Care and Handling of Flowers

10 Easy ways to keep your flowers longer

  1. Use a very sharp knife and cut all flower stems on a sharp angle.
  2. Remove all leaves that will be under the water. The leaves will cause the water to grow bacteria and will rot if under the water.
  3. Use floral preservative (2 envelopes for every 500ML of water).
  4. Keep flowers away from fruit and remove dying flowers as soon as possible.
  5. Re-cut stems if you find flower heads are drooping.
  6. Re-fill using lukewarm water (about room temperature) every 2-3 days.
  7. Keep flowers away from direct sunlight and cold draughts.
  8. Tropical flowers thrive in moist atmospheres. Lightly misting will help them last longer.
  9. If flowers are in foam then the foam must be saturated with water.
  10. Use care when handling flowers and they will thank-you for it!

Health Benefits of Plants in your Home and Office

You will be amazed to know that the plants you see everyday at the mall, doctor’s office or in your home are cleaning the air and absorbing noise. Not only are they beautiful, but they are helping you physically, emotionally and psychologically. They reduce illness, stress, help with concentration levels and memory, and lower high blood pressure.

Plants such as the Ficus, Ivy, Dragon Tree, Philodendrons, Spider Plants, Peace Lilies, Ferns, Chrysanthemums and Palms take potentially harmful toxins out of the air; including chemicals found in paints, varnishes and dry cleaning fluids, car exhaust fumes and tobacco smoke. These incredible plants accomplish this without harming themselves, creating a living energy for those around them. Contact Roxy Flowers and start increasing your health and well-being.
